Product Description

After 12 years of thinking about it (and waiting for movie technology to catch up with his visions), James Cameron followed up his unsinkable Titanic with Avatar, a sci-fi epic meant to trump all previous sci-fi epics. Set in the future on a distant planet, Avatar spins a simple little parable about greedy colonizers (that would be mankind) messing up the lush tribal world of Pandora.

A paraplegic Marine named Jake (Sam Worthington) acts through a 9-foot-tall avatar that allows him to roam the planet and pass as one of the Na'vi, the blue-skinned, large-eyed native people who would very much like to live their peaceful lives without the interference of the visitors.

Although he's supposed to be gathering intel for the badass general (Stephen Lang) who'd like to lay waste to the planet and its inhabitants, Jake naturally begins to take a liking to the Na'vi, especially the feisty Neytiri (Zoë Saldana, whose entire performance, recorded by Cameron's complicated motion-capture system, exists as a digitally rendered Na'vi). The movie uses state-of-the-art 3D technology to plunge the viewer deep into Cameron's crazy toy box of planetary ecosystems and high-tech machinery.

Maybe it's the fact that Cameron seems torn between his two loves--awesome destructive gizmos and flower-power message mongering--that makes Avatar's pursuit of its point ultimately uncertain.

That, and the fact that Cameron's dialogue continues to clunk badly. If you're won over by the movie's trippy new world, the characters will be forgivable as broad, useful archetypes rather than standard-issue stereotypes, and you might be able to overlook the unsurprising central plot.

(The overextended "take that, Michael Bay" final battle sequences could tax even Cameron enthusiasts, however.) It doesn't measure up to the hype (what could?) yet Avatar frequently hits a giddy delirium all its own. The film itself is our Pandora, a sensation-saturated universe only the movies could create. --Robert Horton

Blu-Ray Review (not a review of the movie!)

Review Date: April 22, 2010
Reviewer: the-movie-guy, Lawrence, KS
Five months after "Avatar" received its initial big-screen release, we are presented with its first release to the home-video market. Much has been written about the double and triple-dipping. We know this is a bare-bones release, devoid of ANY extras, special features, deleted scenes, commentary, etc. We know the studio is releasing a more complete edition of the film on Blu-ray in November 2010, and a 3D version at some point in the future. We've all heard the complaints from those who think this stripped-down version is merely a cash grab. So now Earth Day has arrived, and "Avatar" has been released in this bare-bones edition. For those who, like me, love the movie, and want to have something on-hand to enjoy until the more thorough release arrives in the months to come, is this worth it?

In a word, yes.

This Blu-ray is the movie only, with some basic search/bookmarking features and subtitles. There is no commentary, no trailers, no previews, no annoying advertisements that play before the movie starts. It's the movie only, much like the way DVDs presented films back in the early days of that format. You insert the disc (the disc loads and starts playing automatically in my Sony BDP-S570). There will be a moment or two of a blank screen as the disc loads. You'll see a brief message informing you to update your player's firmware if you experience any problems playing the disc. Then you'll see a piracy warning (thankfully it's brief), and then a basic Fox Home Video title screen. Now you come to a nicely animated menu screen, which gives you options to play the film, set up your options or search for a scene or bookmark.

The disc has an advanced feature which allows you to resume playback if you power your player off during the film playback. This option comes on automatically when you turn on the player again, even if you've removed the disc and reinserted it.

The video quality is astonishing, easily besting last month's Toy Story and Toy Story 2 releases from Disney. You have a full 16x9 (1.78:1) picture, which is how I remember the film being presented in RealD and Dolby 3D Digital in theatres. Colors are crisp and bright. No visible artifacts.

Audio is superb, a quite robust mix that will engage fully your 7.1 system.

This is the finest-looking Blu-ray of the year, thus far, and the best way to enjoy the film until the next more complete edition is released in November. Is this stripped-down edition a cash grab? I don't think so. I appreciate having a bare-bones release. It's refreshing to have a disc that is the movie only. Who needs all the junk that we get on most Blu-ray discs? Yes a making-of documentary would be fun, but is there anyone who loves the movie who doesn't already have some idea of the craft that went into making it?

This release is for people who love the movie, end of story. If you love the movie, you'll appreciate having such a wonderful, flawless transfer to enjoy in high definition at home. If you don't love the movie, you will find things to quibble about such as the lack of extras. I, for one, am happy with what we've got now.
Simply put: The best Picture and Audio available on any format. (Blu Ray review)

Reviewer: M. Stifler, Gettysburg, PA USA
Let me start off by saying that I am one of the people that saw Avatar multiple times in theaters and loved it. The CGI , as well as the 3D technology infused, were by far the best I have ever seen. James Cameron and all of the people who participated in the making of this movie did a tremendous job. Weta workshop is taking its place at the top of the mountain, as far as visual effects companies go. Watching this movie was like being transported to a different universe. I was completely immersed throughout the almost three hours I was in the theater.

As for the story and acting for the film, I am probably in the minority on most of these reviews. The story for me, while predictable and reminiscent of other movies I'd seen previously (What movie isn't nowadays?), was extremely enjoyable. Watching this made me feel young again. It made me forget about all the worries that an adult life brings, and just enjoy myself in the moment. Many people argue that the acting in this movie was subpar. These people say that the portrayals of the characters were downright cartoonish. I would argue strongly against that. For the type of movie that this is, the good versus evil portrayals given by the actors works in the movie's favor. Sam Worthington especially does well. If you haven't seen him in Terminator: Salvation, do so. He made the movie worth watching.

Now, to get to the actual product at hand. I ordered the Blu Ray / DVD combo pack from Amazon. From the moment the menu came onto my screen, I knew this was going to be something special. When I pressed play, there was no turning back. Over the next three hours, my senses were completely assaulted and my mind was dumbstruck. Simply put, James Cameron's Avatar on the Blu Ray format is the best picture and audio we have seen or heard to date. I have a feeling it will be years before anything better is brought to the table. Watching the visuals was more stimulating than looking at a real life forest. Every detail could be seen from far and away. The walls of my house shook, and I just hope the neighbors did hear. I would tell them to buy the movie themselves and experience it.

With this release comes certain issues. While I don't have any of them myself, I will still talk about them as it would be uninformative of me to not. This release of Avatar is not in 3D. Many people complain about this, and a large percentage of those people do not even have the right equipment to properly experience 3D yet. The technology for home theater 3D is very new and very pricey. Next year, after all the quirks have been worked out, is when we will likely see Avatar in a home release 3D format. Another gripe is the complete lack of special features. This again has a good reason. In the Special Edition coming later this year, there will be scenes incorporated into the movie not even visually completed yet. Documentaries in high definition have to be put together. A commentary track needs to be recorded. No one is being forced to buy this "stripped" edition, however. I am one of the people who will knowingly double or triple dip on this. The reason for that is because I love it so much.

Now to the biggest complaint. During the initial release, many people were complaining that Avatar would not play in their Blu Ray players. The reason for that seems to be some new copy protection put on the disc. While I was not one of the people with this problem, I can certainly sympathize with those who did. A new firmware update is all it will take to fix the issue. My PS3, which serves as my Blu Ray player, had a firmware update ready for me before I watched the movie.

So if you are one of the millions who loved Avatar when you saw it in theaters, or one of the people who didn't get around to seeing it, now is your time. Pick this movie up right away without hesitation. Keep an open mind, and let yourself become immersed. You do not want to miss what many people believe is one of the top movies of all time.
Biggest bargain in years

Avatar is a watershed moment in cinematographic history. It is a step forward as important as the first Star Wars movie was. Avatar is an experience not to be missed by any fan of movies, it is a truly impressive achievement. I've been a movie fan since the late 1940's, in all that time I had never gone to any movie more than once while it was in it's first run... until Avatar. My wife and I have been to see Avatar three times in theaters (once in each of the three formats: Big screen 3D; IMAX 3D, and big screen 2D. We were favorably impressed by the movie, and the technology, in all three formats. We both felt that Avatar will be remembered as a powerful, ground breaking film, and that it will become a major classic.

We recently bought the DVD and Blu-Ray two disc combination package (from Amazon.com) and consider the package to be one of the best bargains in entertainment. Getting two and a half hours of entertainment, in two high quality formats, each for the average price of one movie theater ticket is extraordinary... especially when the film is just concluding it's first run in theaters.
If you can see Avatar on a big screen (in 3D or 2D) by all means do so. I also recommend buying a copy to view at home... the quality and the experience on a good digital TV screen are extraordinary. This film is one that will influence the making of, and course of, film entertainment for a long time to come.
Here is a REVIEW of the PRODUCT

Review Date: April 22, 2010
Reviewer: Gregory Holmes,
This is BY FAR the best looking and sounding blu ray disc I have ever seen.

PICTURE QUALITY
The picture quality is beyond description and is so clear that it is like looking through a window. The colors are vibrant beyond belief. Every detail of every image is sharp and exquisite. I've never seen anything like it for a home theatre system before. The image had more detail than I noticed during the 3D presentation I saw in the theatre and the colors were even more vivid. Many scenes on this disc look as though they are in 3D, there is that much depth to the images. I'm beyond words to describe how incredible this disc looks.

AUDIO QUALITY
For english language this disc offers DTS 5.1 HD audio and DOLBY 5.1. I listened to the DTS. The sound is equal to the image. Every speaker in your system will be busy with this one. Rear speakers are in constant use with all sorts of immersive sound effects and the subwoofer will shake your house. This is spectacular entertainment and unprecedented in home video history.

PACKAGE AND FUNCTIONALITY
The 2 disc set comes in a striking reflective slip case. The discs are housed in a standard sized two disc keep case with the left side containing the DVD and the right side holding the blu ray disc. The disc menus are gorgeous and very easy to navigate. Pop up menu is quick and easy to read. There are NO FORCED TRAILERS or advertisements before the menu pops up but there are the usual warning screens. Although my player is usually fast loading, this disc took a bit more time to load than most (about one minute).

EXTRAS
There are none unless you count the DVD as an extra. There are however two inserts. One is a $25 off certificate toward the purchase of a Panasonic Blu ray player. The other insert contains an access code to the website which allows you to watch bonus material/sneek preview stuff.

FINAL THOUGHTS
It isn't expensive. It is well worth the money (at least to me) as I found it to be the most impressive home video release (in terms of picture and sound quality) that I have ever seen. Buy it!
Yes the Blu Ray is a worthwhile buy. Excellent quality

You can be angry this version doesn't have 3D or additional features or extras and shout at the studios for exploiting the market. But I wouldn't tell people not to buy it because Avatar is the single best looking Blu Ray currently available. And this is what Cameron said you would be getting from this Blu Ray. Nothing but the movie looking the best it can possibly look because there are no extras. What you are paying for and hopefully gladly is a chance to buy this film for home viewing while it is still in the theaters. And it is spectacular. You aren't getting the cheap dumbed down product some well intentioned people are warning against. This is a premium quality disc. This is your chance to purchase the theatrical version. Later on you will have the chance to buy the extended edition and a 3D version. Both of these will no doubt cost more than this version. Not many people will be able to take advantage of 3D so it not being in 3D right now is fairly irrelevant. I love extras. But the truth be told most of the time I only need the movie. The extras all too often go unwatched.

If you want a showpiece Blu Ray to replace or add to your roster of Baraka or Fifth Element or Dark Knight. Avatar will make your HD system sparkle with life you haven't seen to date.

Short Avatar Review

It’s ground breaking, breath taking and huge in scale. Go see!

Long Avatar Review

I’ve been anticipating the release of Avatar, James Cameron’s first film in 10 years, ever since it came up on my radar. I booked my tickets weeks ago and I finally made it to a preview screening last night, the day before the official release.

For me the only way to truly appreciate this film in full is to opt for the 3D IMAX version, which is what I saw last night, when I arrived it was a packed auditorium with a buzz of excited chatter which turned to complete silence the minute the lights dimmed. There’s been months of anticipation from a lot of people for this film since the first teaser snippets were shown back in August and you could feel it in the air.

Was It Worth The Wait?
Right from the first few scenes I was staring in wonder at the scale and detail of what I was seeing and this was before any of the lush vegetation of Pandora, it’s extraordinary creatures or any of the Navi characters had been introduced. Right from the off you can see that a huge amount of effort has been put in to everything on the screen and you cannot see the joins, there’s no tell tale CGI give-aways, you can’t reverse engineer what’s an effect and what’s real. Awesome!

Reviewer: Vanees A. Gantner,
I played the game before i watched the movie, it helped a lot lol i was able to identify everything in the movie. Anyway the graphics were awesome and i became addicted to this game right away. Running around doing the different missions was great, now i'm just on endless day finding some things i missed. I suggest you read the information in the pandorapedia when you get it because i didn't realize i wasn't reading that and i got kinda behind. This is definitely a game i could never be bored of.
Stereoscopic true 3D game

If you got a 3D HDTV and shutter glasses, you're going to be amazed with the 3D effects of this game, It's the only one i know that delivers a true 3D game.
Great game, 3D is amazing.

Reviewer: John Ciriello, Dover, MA
People are absolutely right when they say the story is a little bit mundane, but if you liked the movie you'll love the game. Of course you have to make a choice for which side you will help out(Navi or RDA) and I can't seem to find anyone that helps the RDA, which is cool because they you get to experience Pandora to its fullest rather than simply being the bad guy driving around in an unknown world your human vehicles. They incorporated a lot into the game from the movie, which made me happy and the graphics are awesome.
The reason I say the story is a little bit boring is because its a lot of repetition, "go out and do this and come back, then go out find another one of those and come back", in fact its a lot like the way Mass Effect is set up (except you don't choose what to say) with all the task oriented missions. Nonetheless when you go on the missions there are always a lot of bad guys waiting to get you.
The map can be very confusing, I'd often find myself running around without looking at the map for a while and find that somewhere along the line I missed a vine or a passage to an upper level and will have to find my way back. Even if I killed all the enemies on my way to making the wrong turn, they always come back, not in the exact same spot they were before but in the general area which I guess is realistic.
You can get this game without a 3D TV, and you'll be happy, but if you want the full effect of the game, 3D is the way to go. It is truly unbelievable, like the movie the 3D immerses you into the game with plants jutting out at you and sparks and bullets, it's fantastic. If you don't even have an HDTV however I don't know what the point of getting the game is, because it really wouldn't be worth it, you would have a very hard time even seeing the stuff you need to see on such low resolution.
Lastly, we come to the characters, I do have to say the game producers did a bad job casting the characters, it was very hard for me to feel a connection to any of the humans really, except for the one girl who helps you out throughout the game. Your boss in the game who uses an Avatar Body had the worst casting, very unfitting voice. Even my own character I had a hard time caring about since a lot of the scripting was very cheesy and uninvolved. At least they did a good job casting the Navi, with people that sounded like they could be native.
In the end, with the added 3D feature this game is simply amazing. The story is acceptable, the plot is what you'd expect and want, the Characters were not so good and the graphics and 3D were fantastic, not going to be a as good as a PS3 only game but if you watch is in 3D, there's nothing short of amazement to be had.
Great action and fun!

Haven't seen the movie yet but after the game I wil have to go see it. The game is a lot of fun and lots of action. You'll enjoy it, fairly fast paced and some difficult areas to get through in the game. Well worth the price!!!
Much more than your typical, disposable RPG

Overall I really enjoyed this game. The play control is quite good once you get the hang of all the different weapons and skills. I particularly like how unlike most games, Avatar isn't burdened with too many customizable settings. Moving, aiming, switching weapons, etc. is very intuitive and ergonomic. The camera control is likewise very good once you get the hang of it. The music is great and the beautiful, lush landscapes are awesome! The load times are minimal, especially given the quality of animation, and unlike games like GTA IV (which I also love), more R&D and play-testing went into this game than just the usual "okay, it's entertaining now. Ship it."

Players have a choice of 24 human skins for their character, 12 male and 12 female. Furthermore, every three of these skins are paired with a different Avatar, so there are also 4 male and 4 female Avatar skins. Add to that the different armors encountered throughout the game and every character goes through a litany of changes to their appearance.

At first I thought the game was too easy, what with infinite ammo for the default weapon, ammo recharge stations every 5 or so screens, infinite lives and minimal punishment for dying, three different ways to recharge your health, the fact that it auto-saves your progress in most battles, and the fact that you can always re-load the game and all your health, ammo, etc. will come back (in case it's too burdensome to walk for 10 seconds to find another ammo station). And then there's the radar/mini-map and territory maps that perpetually show you where to go next, making it impossible to get lost. Plus there are teleport machines which make traveling to the furthest reaches of the map more than once unnecessary, and allies to help in the battles, and auto-targeting that allows you to obliterate your opponents without even needing to look at the screen...Come to think of it, maybe this game is too easy.

Other things I loved about Avatar are the auto-save function which effortlessly prevents the accumulation of redundant/outdated saves, and the way that the game is effectively two games, depending on whether you fight for the human side or the Na'vi side. That combined with the diversity of character skins gives this game tons more replay value than your typical "interactive movie" type RPG. There are also enough random powerups scattered throughout the maps and frequent enough weapon/armor/skill, etc. upgrades to keep you engaged. The "skills" in particular make it possible to employ a number of different battle strategies. There are even in-depth in-game write-ups about nearly every facet of Pandoran/Na'vi history and whatnot for those interested. I haven't even tried the 3D mode, but that would make the game even cooler. (There are also several mini-games that I haven't even gotten into yet.) I paid $39.99 when Avatar first came out for PS3 and I still think that was a great deal for this game. $30 or less is a steal. Even disregarding the content I have yet to unlock (mini-games, online play, etc.) I'm still comfortable giving this game 5 stars. Overall, I'm quite certain there's enough entertaining content here to keep me busy until the sequel comes out.

I'd like to thank James Cameron for sharing his vision in both the film and this game. Not since Jim Henson's film "The Dark Crystal" has such a richly layered, wondrous universe been presented so vividly. It's obvious that a ton of thought (over three decades worth!) went into planning the setting and back-story for Pandora, and it really shows. Frankly I'm astonished that as of the writing of this review there are only a couple dozen reviews for the PS3 game and only ONE faq on gamefaqs dot com. Then again, I grew up on the 8-bit NES, I never play online games, and until I played Avatar I always cheated my way through every 1sr person shooter from Doom to Quake to Halo. The low-key challenge presented in this game is a refreshing change of pace for me, providing the opportunity to explore the amazing Pandoran landscape without the threat of spending tons of time getting back to where I was when I died, all with no cheating needed!

Customer Reviews

I'm really enjoying it!

My sister gave me this game for Christmas and I love playing it. Once you get past the first couple of levels anyone can join you as a secondary character to give you a hand. It's also interesting that you can 'buy' your own upgrades that can affect the difficulty of game play lol. If you don't make the right upgrades in time it can really make things a challenge! I love using the balance board for flying! It's a great experience! At one point my friend used my controller and her own so that I could focus on 'steering'. A great time and even more so if you play with a friend.
So far, so good!

Reviewer: Howard Van Ackooy,
I just purchased this game, by trading in two games I didn't like (Jurassic the Hunted, and Star Wars Lightsaber Duels) and so far I really like it. I've been traveling through the jungle, using my staff and eventually my bow and arrow to kill and defeat my enemy, while accomplishing the goal for each level. I really like that there are on screen prompts reminding you which button to use (even if I did know, this is still a nice feature). It kind of reminds me of Turok:Evolution, which I really enjoyed playing on my Playstation 2. It doesn't follow the story of the movie Avatar, and I don't find that to be all so bad. It has its own story and bottom line is that I'm enjoying playing it. So far, so good!
It is like being there.

it took me a little to adjust to the playing environment but once I did, this game is a blast.
Greatest Adventure Game

Review Date: April 1, 2010
Reviewer: Rukario San, California, AC USA
ADVENTURE is the point of game. Face it, who cares if you can't be the RDA? They're restricted to low grounds and weaponry. Na'vi can do Stealth Attacks and command creatures such as the mighty Thanator or the Banshee. (A couple of my favorite Pandoran creatures) As for the graphics, they're still impressive despite the graininess. And besides, once you ignore the grain, the world is pretty impressive. (I have games that are grainy, but I get past it. Like TR Legend for my PC.) And hey, going around stealth attacking from branches makes me feel like a tiger. That just rules. Addmitedly, I don't have the game. But I have seen some awesome HD footage gameplay. I have a wide variety of Adventure games like Tomb Raider. I HAVE played this only once at my friend's house for the Wii, and it was most definitely fun. I plan oon buying it soon. As for the other saying the control of characters suck, it could be a simple problem of cleanliness of your sensor. Or your controllers are a little unresponsive. i looked for fun in this product, and by playing at my friend's, it was very fun, and once you get past the graphics, you can really see the beauty in the world. Graphics were key for me, and this game passed the standards. Plus the story wasn't all too bad either. Besdes, the developers didn't want the game to be completely based on the movie.
Lots of flaws but very enjoyable for Avatar fans. I liked it.

Reviewer: Jack Coffee,
Pros:
Nice graphics
Solid use of the Balance Board
Exclusive story
Fun
co-op available

Cons:
lots of bugs and glitches
game development was rushed
not enough exploration possible.
terrible use of the motion plus

The game could have been much better but if you liked the film and want to feel like a Nav`i then the game can be fun.

Customer Reviews

Really fun game... Decent graphics and story. Minor flaws (see review)

Review Date: February 16, 2010
Reviewer: Ed Martin, Long Branch, New Jersey
Avatar The Game for DS is very fun. The game play is RPG style (though you can only play as one character, named Nok) and is not short by a long shot. If you strive to complete the game in its entirety but unlocking all skills, weapons, etc besides beating the bosses (the last boss is a nightmare to beat...let alone that you have to beat him TWICE)it will take several FULL Nintendo DS Lite charges... It really does take that long to complete.

The game is loaded with small-time bosses, puzzles, obstacle courses, etc. Some of them are real tricky and confusing at first but as soon as you figure it out what you are supposed to do you feel like an idiot LOL.

The Real Time save feature is a plus too. You can save the game progress wherever you are in real time in the game so you can resume at the same point later. You do NOT have to start over the level/objective.

Here's the cons...

CONS:
Controls:
The Controls are a tiny bit flawed. It's not the stylus controls (the game has controls similar to LoZ-DS Spirit Tracks and LoZ Phantom Hourglass)...the stylus controls are perfect and very accurate with detective your hand movements to attack enemies, interact with objects, etc. It's the weapon menu... Before you can use a specialized weapon you have to enable it by either tapping on the weapons menu and tapping the icon of the weapon, or (and this ISN'T mentioned in the game OR the booklet I believe) you can use the D-Pad (arrow keys) to select the weapon that way. Then you can use the L button to enable it to use it. It sounds complicated but after you get the hang of it, it because second nature and you don't even have to think twice about doing that. It's just very annoying when you first start playing and you walk off cliffs a lot... It's a good thing you don't lose points or die from doing that though (you do lose health though, and if you lose too much you have to start the objective over and the whole level gets reset (you have to kill all enemies, animals, move items around, etc again).

Music:
The Music in the game is very appropiate, but it could've been much better. The game doesn't give you the option to disable it, and during gameplay (aside from cutscenes and boss battles) it is all the same track and not changeable. Like I said, I don't mind the music and it is appropiate for the game. It just would've been nicer if they used actual tracks or MIDI versions of James Horner's score for Avatar...

Neither Pro nor Con:

Story:
The Story is NOTHING like the story in the movie, but the game story is actually very good. You play as a young Na'Vi tribe member that through a series of events you become a warrior and stop the RDA ("sky people") from destroying their lands and using mind control on the animals to use as weapons. I don't want to reveal any details though... but the plot isn't bad.

AND HERE ARE THE PROS...
Pros:
Graphics:
For DS graphics, they are very good. The only 3D in the game are the AMP Suits and the Ikran/Banshees/Leonopteryx/dragons. The rest is "3rd person" from an above angle. The graphics are very detailed for what they are and very bright and colorful. The nighttime level with the bio-luminescent plants and animals is particularly beautiful for what they are... That's my favorite level as well.

Special Weapons/Skills:
The game has a decent selection of weapons and skills you can unlock. From bows and arrows, to indiana jones style whips, to slings (david and goliath style), a huge mallet for smashing rocks and enemies, a sloth-monkey creature that you use to access small entrances and holes and switches you can't reach, etc. The whips are fun to use to whip the humans around with LOL. The Bow and Arrow is also very neat and comes in handy a lot.

Flying the Ikran/Leonopteryx/Banshee/Dragon:
Yes, you CAN fly them in this game! In 3D graphics too. You use them to travel around Pandora to all the different levels and sections in the game and you have to fly through obstacle courses to gather 'seeds' (this games version of say Mario Gold Coins or Sonic Rings) that you use to unlock skills, etc.

The Bosses:
The Bosses are very challenging... Even if you play the game again (I beat it twice! it was that fun enough to play again...) after beating it, while the first bosses may be easy now that you know how to beat them the later big bosses and the final boss are still very challenging opponents... In other words, they aren't ridiculously easy to beat like Bowser is in the Super Mario Bros Retro games... You have to for example when fighting a guy operating an AMP suit disable them in between them charging and firing guns at you, and then after they are disabled you can land some blows to them...and you have to repeat that like 4 times. The final boss...VERY complicated to beat and I died many times trying to defeat it...

Pandorapedia:
In the game you collect "lores" by either just finding them or from defeating enemies or animals that carry them. These lores you can access them back at the village all contain a decent paragraph of information about Pandora, it's animals, plants, the Na'Vi people, and the RDA. Including information and reminders on how to beat certain enemies and hints about the game. Some of them contain upgrades for health, new skills, etc. You have to use 'seeds' to unlock them. You get a couple seeds every time you defeat an enemy, break a box, or uproot plants.

Realtime save:
The game has a very useful feature. You can save the game progress wherever you are in real time in the game so you can resume at the same point later. You do NOT have to start over the level/objective.

Gameplay Duration:
You WILL have to go through a couple DS Lite Charges to beat the whole game, especially if you try to unlock everything in the game. It took me a little over a week with at least an hour up to 3 hours of gameplay a day.

Puzzles and Objectives:
There are puzzles all over the levels that you have to do to get to the other side. Some of them involve pulling levers, finding key cards to unlock doors, moving boulders to make a bridge to get across a gap, etc. The majority of them are real tricky and can be confusing but as soon as you figure it out it seems so obvious... The objectives in the game are pretty good and entertaining to complete. You almost always have to complete a few puzzles to complete an objective, and all of them have either small time bosses or powerful ones.

Well I think I covered all the basics... In all, this is a real good and fun game... Especially if you are a fan of Avatar, this game is real fun and worth owning.
Nintendo DS Avatar the Game

Avatar the Game is fun and gives the back story of the Avatar movie. It allows you to run around as Nok, the young Na'vi warrior as he tries to save his world. It is a fun game but somewhat repetitive and simple in its design. I liked that it gave more background info. and I would recommend it.
Fun game!

This is a really fun game as soon as you get the hang of it. At first I thought it was kind of boring, but when I started getting good at it became a lot of fun.

Reviewer: Laura Star,
I purchased this item for my daughter who LOVES Avatar. She originally wanted for the P3 and was disappointed when I gave her the DS version. She said, Mom, isn't it going to be too small to play, Like Zelda. I said, we'll find out soon enough. She has not stopped. It is much easier on the eyes verses earlier DS games and it is quite challenging for her. I would recommend this for a newbie. A seasoned player may beg to differ.
Avatar DS is good for a DS game, if you're a fan
